  • CSPJ took control of the East division race and knocked The Hip out of the playoff hunt in the process. The 40-point win completed a season sweep of The Hip and gives CSPJ a 5-3 all-time series lead.
  • Winning Beer Money won their third straight game to get back to .500 and insert themselves right in the thick of the playoff chase. Camel Toe, on the other hand, seems to be fading. This series is tied at two wins each.
  • DDT kept their postseason chances alive by knocking the defending champs out of the race. The win gives DDT an 8-5 series lead.
  • Despite a furious comeback by The Jedi Masters, Post Mortem held on to beat the Jedis in the 20th all-time meeting of these two clubs. This is Mortem’s second straight win over the Jedis, giving them an 11-9 series lead.
  • Following Turd’s victory over Hedfullalicker, both of these teams sit at .500. Ferguson leads this career matchup, 8-7.
  • Kramerica Industries won a low-scoring battle with Double D, who lost Matt Ryan early, putting both teams at 7-5 on the year. Despite the KI’s win, Double D still leads this series, 7-3.
  • SaaBB claimed high points for the week with a 48 point drubbing of SIAP. These two split their season series, but this win gives SaaBB a remote chance at winning the division, something that seemed unlikely a couple weeks back.

Record Watch

Note: All player scoring records cover the period of 2004 to the present only

  • Post Mortem’s 11th win ties them for 4th most wins in a season.
  • Post Mortem’s 11-game win streak is tied for the second longest winning streak with TKD. Only The Jedi Masters’ 12-game streak in 2007 is better.
  • Camel Toe joined CSPJ (2006) as the only teams in PFFL history to go 0-6 in non-division games on the season.
  • The Jedi Masters became the seventh team to record 15,000 regular season points. They are the first non-original team to hit this milestone, and they accomplished the feat in the second fewest number of games – 166, 2nd only to Post Mortem’s 163.
  • SaaBB became just the fourth team to win 100 games overall (regular season + playoffs)
  • Antonio Gates’ 26.8 point performance this week is the 9th best performance ever by a TE, but it’s only the fourth best by a TE this season (a list that is topped by Gates)

PFFL Survivor

View the Current Survivor Standings

Eliminated: Double D

Double D picked the wrong week to suffer an injury to Matt Ryan and a rare down week for MJD. As it turns out, they have missed a guaranteed $40 payout by one week.

Their head-to-head battle this week was settled by only 11 points, so the Survivor final between Post Mortem and The Jedi Masters should be a good one. Two weeks – cumulative points – $40 for second, $100 for first.

Two Week Finals: Post Mortem vs The Jedi Masters

Season High Points

View the Current Season High Point Standings

Double D fell way off the pace this week and it’s now going to take a pretty remarkable tumble by Post Mortem and two great weeks from someone to change the winner of the Season HP moola:

  1. Post Mortem – 1264.17
  2. Double D – 1160.26 (-103.91)
  3. The next closest team is 169 points off the pace

High Points Against

View the Current Season High Points Against Standings

Tappa Kegga Day is running away with this one (btw, with a 1.3% interest rate, we’re looking at maybe a $30 payout here) by an even bigger margin than Post Mortem has built in the high points race:

  1. Tappa Kegga Day – 1298.78
  2. The Hip – 1165.85 (-132.93)
  3. The next team (TJM) is 166 points off the pace

PFFL Approved Music of the Week

Dr Dog is coming to Turner Hall in February. The show costs $10, and just like the start of this live video, there will also likely be PBR there.

If the playoffs were to start today (2009, wk 13)

Posted on December 1, 2009 by Post Mortem
No comments

Going with this one first this week since playoff time is near.

Some shakeup in the playoff seedings this week as a couple of teams just can’t seem to seal the deal on their playoff hopes, while others are making a late season run. In addition, we will not have a repeat champion in 2009, as Tappa Kegga Day and The Hip are now officially out of the race.

You can check out the “Playoffs” tab on the myFantasyLeague site at any time to see how the seeds in PFFL would work out if the season ended today. Also, the old PFFL site has a page for the Division Race and Wild Card Race but tiebreakers are only mildly applied there (i.e., they are wrong).

Clinched

  • Post Mortem is still the only team to have clinched a playoff spot, and has clinched both the Central Division Title and the #1 overall seed. With all the parity in the league right now, the 4-game lead Mortem has over the next best record is fairly nutty.

OUT

  • Tappa Kegga Day, ending a run of four straight postseason appearances
  • The Hip

mila-kunis-blackbook-02If the playoffs started today, these would be your first round matchups:

(8) Winning Beer Money vs (1) Post Mortem
(7) Hedfullalicker vs (2) CSPJ
(6) SaaBB vs (3) SIAP
(5) Double D vs (4) Kramerica Industries

Changes from last week:

  • SIAP falls from a 2 to a 3 seed
  • CSPJ rises into the 2 seed
  • Kramerica improved to the #4 team, while Double D dropped one spot to #5
  • Hedfullalicker also slipped, going from a 5 seed to 7
  • SaaBB moved up from 7 to 6

Tiebreaker info:

  • CSPJ gets the 2 seed over SIAP due to total points
  • SIAP has a win over Kramerica, yielding them the division lead for the moment (a looming wk 13 matchup will be pretty big here)
  • Kramerica beat Double D, so they get the seeding advantage in the wild card section of the bracket
  • SaaBB, WBM and Turd Ferguson are all 6-6 in the West. SaaBB is 3-0 against the other two (with a final division game coming in week 14), so they are the first representative in tiebreakers against other division. WBM is 1-0 against Turd, with a rematch coming this week, and would be next. Turd’s awful division record means that they are likely to be the last team from the West to get a playoff spot in any tiebreaking scenarios.
  • SaaBB has the advantage over Hedfullalicker at the moment due to total points. However, they meet head-to-head in week 13 in a huge playoff implication matchup.
  • Hedfullalicker then holds a tiebreak advantage over WBM due to a head-to-head win
  • In the 5-7 group, Camel Toe has the advantage over The Jedi Masters because of a better division record. DDT beat Camel Toe, so they lead that particular tiebreaker. DDT also beat TJM, so they have the clear advantage over the East Division teams.

Playoff Scenarios – Week 13

These are the possible playoff spot/seed clinching scenarios that I’ve determined for this week. They may be incomplete, and they may be wrong.

  • Post Mortem has already clinched the #1 seed.
  • The Hip and Tappa Kegga Day have been eliminated from playoff contention.
  • SIAP and Kramerica meet with the West division crown on the line. If SIAP wins AND Turd wins AND SaaBB loses, SIAP clinches the division
  • I don’t believe Kramerica could clinch the division this week, but they could take a pretty good points lead over SIAP and would be in excellent shape if Turd loses.
  • CSPJ can clinch the East division with a win
  • Double D, Kramerica, CSPJ and SIAP can all clinch a playoff berth with a win
  • DDT, Camel Toe and The Jedi Masters should probably try to win and everything, but I don’t think they’d be totally eliminated with a loss.

Mila Kunis loves playoff races, and (apparently) kissing Natalie Portman.

If the playoffs were to start today (2009, wk 12)

Happy Thanksgiving to all PFFL-ers. Here’s wishing you all a fantastic holiday filled. For those of you traveling like me, do so safely. For those of you spending time with family and friends, enjoy the time. For those of you spending it alone, enjoy the peace and quiet while you watch three football games.

Clinched

  • Post Mortem has not only clinched a playoff berth, but based on their win in week 11, they have also clinched the Central Division Title and the #1 overall seed.

Postseason Records

  • This is playoff appearance #10 for Post Mortem. SaaBB could join Mortem at that league-leading figure if they can find a way into the dance
  • This is the second straight #1 seed for Post Mortem, an accomplishment that no other PFFL team has achieved (the consecutive part — there have been other teams with multiple top seeds). ‘Mortem hopes it works out better than last year’s first round flame out.
  • The division title is Post Mortem’s fourth, tied with Tappa Kegga Day behind league-leading The Jedi Masters’ 5.

But, I thought I’d add a little detail here.

victorias-secret-marisa-miller-05If the playoffs started today, these would be your first round matchups:

(8) Winning Beer Money vs (1) Post Mortem
(7) Sharp as a Bowling Ball vs (2) SIAP
(6) Kramerica Industries vs (3) CSPJ
(5) Hedfullalicker vs (4) Double D

Changes from last week:

  • There were no changes at all in the seeding from 1-8

Tiebreaker info:

  • Hed gets the advantage over Kramerica due to a head-to-head win
  • Winning Beer Money beat Turd Ferguson head-to-head
  • SaaBB is 3-0 on the season against Turd and WBM, so they are the leader of the 3 5-6 teams in the West
  • Camel Toe split their season series with The Jedi Masters, but has a better division record and is therefore top 5-6 team in the East
  • SaaBB beat Camel Toe head-to-head
  • WBM is 1-0 against Turd in the West, so they rank higher
  • Winning Beer Money gets in ahead of Camel Toe based on total points scored
  • Turd Ferguson beat Camel Toe, and therefore is the first team out of the playoffs

If you’re looking for some historical perspective on playoff chances after 11 games, here’s what I can tell you:

  • Teams with 8+ wins after 11 weeks have never missed the playoffs. Post Mortem is the only team this year that qualifies in this category and has most certainly clinched a spot.
  • Only once (in 25 times) has a team with a 7-4 record missed the playoffs. Camel Toe accomplished that feat in 2006. This is good news for SIAP and Double D.
  • Only 5 of 32 6-5 teams have failed to qualify for the postseason. WBM (twice), Post Mortem, The Dark Side and CGRW are the only teams to fail to make it in. This is good news for CSPJ, Hedfullalicker and Kramerica.
  • Of the 33 teams with 5 wins after 11 weeks, 16 have made it to the playoffs, 17 have not. This is the fence that SaaBB, WBM, Turd, Camel, and the Jedis are sitting on right now.
  • There is some good news for the remaining three teams. Three 4-win teams and one 3-win team have made it to the playoffs. Unfortunately for DDT, The Hip and TKD, that is most definitely the exception, not the norm.

Playoff Scenarios – Week 12

These are the possible playoff spot/seed clinching scenarios that I’ve determined for this week. They may be incomplete, and they may be wrong.

  • Post Mortem has already clinched the #1 seed.
  • Double D and SIAP will both clinch playoff spots with wins and losses by The Jedi Masters (to Post Mortem), Turd Ferguson (to Hedfullalicker) and SaaBB (to SIAP)
  • I can’t completely guarantee this one, but I believe The Hip and Tappa Kegga Day will be eliminated from contention if they lose this week

  • Turd Ferguson beat CSPJ to improve to 5-6 on the year and take an all-time series lead of 3-2 in this matchup.
  • Camel Toe exploded for weekly high points with over 153, improving to 5-6 (and, it should be noted, 5-1 in the division) with a win over defending league champion Tappa Kegga Day, who fall to 3-8. CT’s season sweep of TKD ties the career matchup between these two at two wins each.
  • The Jedi Masters picked up their fifth win of the season and completed a season sweep of The Hip, who have now lost three straight. The Jedis have beaten The Hip five straight times and now lead the series, 6-5.
  • SIAP’s once dominant position atop the West was reduced to a “slim lead” following a sixteen point loss to Winning Beer Money. WBM earned a season sweep of SIAP and now leads this matchup, 11-6 all-time.
  • In a battle for second place in the Central, Double D eked out a 7-point win over Hedfullalicker. The win completes a season sweep for DD, who is 4-0 against Hed in division games and 0-1 in non-division meetings.
  • Post Mortem won a tenth straight game, dropping Kramerica by 26. This is Post’s first victory over Kramerica since 2005, tying the all-time series at three wins a piece.
  • DDT improved to 4-7 and remained in the playoff hunt with a win over SaaBB, who fall to 5-6. DDT leads this career matchup, 8-4.

Record Watch

Note: All player scoring records cover the period of 2004 to the present only

  • Post Mortem’s 10-game winning streak is the third longest in PFFL history. Only The Jedi Masters (12) and Tappa Kegga Day (11) have put together longer streaks.
  • Camel Toe recorded their 2500th division point this week. In taking 30 games to reach this milestone, they are tied for 8th fastest to the mark.
  • 100!!! The Hip became the first team in PFFL history to lose 100 games overall, including both regular season and playoffs.
  • The Jedi Masters are only 102.15 points away from 15,000 regular season points.
  • Matthew Stafford’s 40.8 points this week is the 7th most points by a played on someone’s bench ever

PFFL Survivor

View the Current Survivor Standings

Eliminated: The Hip

The Hip and The Jedi Masters played each other head-to-head this week, and after all was said and done, that game was for survival. As it should be this late in the game, the 89.53 points scored by The Hip are the highest for any eliminated team this season.

The stage is now set for this week’s battle to get into the Survivor finals. There is another head-to-head matchup this week that will determine at least one spot in the finals as the winner of Post Mortem – The Jedi Masters is in the money.

Final Three: Double D, Post Mortem and The Jedi Masters

Season High Points

View the Current Season High Point Standings

In the weekly high points hunt, Camel Toe picked up their first high point week of the season and is within 145 points of the season point title. Double D picked up 14 points on Post Mortem in the overall race which now (complete list at above link) looks like this:

  1. Post Mortem – 1147.58
  2. Double D – 1092.52 (-55.06)
  3. Kramerica Industries – 1016.26 (-131.32)
  4. Winning Beer Money – 1014.49 (-133.09)

High Points Against

View the Current Season High Points Against Standings

By losing to the weekly high point team, TKD is starting to run away with this one. In addition, The Jedi Masters leapfrogged over DDT (who fell more than 200 points off the pace). The above link will give you the complete list, but currently, the favorites are:

  1. Tappa Kegga Day – 1195.45
  2. The Hip – 1038.29 (-157.16)
  3. Kramerica Industries – 1034.09 (-161.36)
  4. The Jedi Masters – 1015.39 (-180.06)

If the playoffs were to start today (2009, wk 11)

You can check out the “Playoffs” tab on the myFantasyLeague site at any time to see how the seeds in PFFL would work out if the season ended today. Also, the old PFFL site has a page for the Division Race and Wild Card Race but tiebreakers are only mildly applied there (i.e., they are wrong).

But, I thought I’d add a little detail here.

shakira-id-02If the playoffs started today, these would be your first round matchups:

(8) Winning Beer Money vs (1) Post Mortem
(7) Sharp as a Bowling Ball vs (2) SIAP
(6) Kramerica Industries vs (3) CSPJ
(5) Hedfullalicker vs (4) Double D

Changes from last week:

  • Winning Beer Money took the playoff spot that Camel Toe had been holding onto last week
  • SaaBB moved up one seed, from 8 to 7
  • Seeds 1-5 stayed exactly the same

Tiebreaker info:

  • Double D has the advantage over Hedfullalicker in the Central due to a head-to-head win
  • Double D gets a seed advantage over Kramerica due to total points scored
  • Hed gets the advantage over Kramerica due to a head-to-head win
  • Winning Beer Money beat Turd Ferguson head-to-head
  • Camel Toe has a better division record than The Jedi Masters
  • Winning Beer Money gets in ahead of Camel Toe based on total points scored

If you’re looking for some historical perspective on playoff chances after 9 games, here’s what I can tell you:

  • Teams with 7+ wins after 10 weeks have never missed the playoffs. This is great news for Post Mortem and SIAP.
  • Only twice (out of 30 times) has a team with a 6-4 record missed the playoffs. Camel Toe accomplished that feat in 2006 and The Dark Side did it in 2000.  This is good news for Double D, Kramerica, CSPJ and Hedfullalicker.
  • Teams with .500 records after 10 weeks appropriately have made the playoffs 50% of the time. 18 of 36 have qualified, 18 of 36 have stayed home. SaaBB, therefore, is squarely on the fence. It should be noted, however, that SaaBB has been 5-5 twice and qualified for the postseason both times.
  • 13 of the 30 teams to go 4-6 to start the season have made the playoffs. This gives WBM, Camel, Turd and the Jedis about a 43% chance of moving into the playoffs.
  • 20 teams have started the year 3-7. 2 have qualified for the postseason. Hip, DDT, TKD? You have a 10% chance at this thing. If you want to place a bet on one of these three to make it, bet on The Hip. They are the team responsible for both fo the “2″ 3-7 starts to qualify for the playoffs. And, they’ve been on a 5-year cycle, accomplishing that feat in 1999 and 2004, and failing in 2006.
  • No team with 2 or fewer wins after 10 weeks has ever made the playoffs.

Playoff Scenarios – Week 11

These are the possible playoff spot/seed clinching scenarios that I’ve determined for this week. They may be incomplete, and they may be wrong.

  • Post Mortem has already clinched a playoff spot. They can clinch the division with a win (the best that the winner of DD-Hed could do if PM wins is tie, and PM would win all division tiebreakers). Post Mortem can clinch the #1 seed with a win and a SIAP loss.
  • SIAP can clinch a playoff spot this week with a win and losses by Camel Toe and The Jedi Masters (I’m not totally positive about this one, but I don’t see how 8 wins doesn’t make the playoffs, so SIAP probably just needs a W)

  • CSPJ dropped The Jedi Masters to build a two-game lead in the West Division race. With the season sweep of the Jedis, CSPJ has tied this all-time series at 4 wins each.
  • SaaBB won their fourth in a row to firmly re-enter the playoff race, while Camel Toe dropped a fourth consecutive game and is going to have to fight for a postseason berth. SaaBB now owns this series, 4-0.
  • Winning Beer Money continued their up-and-down season with an “up” week, beating TKD by 50. This is WBM’s second straight win over TKD, but they still trail the series, 8-9.
  • Hedfullalicker defeated The Hip to move into a tie for 2nd place in the Central. This is Hed’s third straight win over The Hip, but The Hip still leads the career matchup 9-8.
  • SIAP may not have scored enough points to remain in Survivor, but they did score enough to beat Turd Ferguson for the second time this year. Note – this game was 74.74 – 67.84. Their week 1 matchup? 69.59 – 53.5. SIAP has won five in a row over Turd and leads this series 12-6.
  • Kramerica Industries remained one back of SIAP, and took home weekly high point honors.  For DDT, this marks 4 consecutive losses after a 3-3 start to the year. This series is knotted up at five wins each.
  • Post Mortem won their ninth straight game, as Randy Moss led the comeback win on Sunday night. The season sweep of Double D gives Mortem a three-game DD win streak, but DD still leads the career series 8-4.

Record Watch

  • Post Mortem’s 9th straight win is tied for the third longest regular season win streak ever. Only TJM’s 12- and TKD’s 11-game streaks are better.
  • Sharp as a Bowling Ball became the sixth team in PFFL history to score 15,000 regular season points. Taking 178 games to reach the mark, SaaBB joins Post Mortem, Hedfullalicker, The Hip, SIAP and TKD in this exclusive club. And yes, this is the complete list of remaining teams from PFFL’s inaugural season in 1997.
  • The Jedi Masters are the one “non-original” PFFL team that will likely hit 15,000 points this season. They currently sit at 14,803.82. If they break the mark this season, they will be the second fastest team to 15k.

Eliminated: SIAP
Immunity: None – There is no immunity once the final four are determined

Last week, SIAP held immunity and was saved from elimination despite having the lowest score of the 6 teams competing in Survivor. This week, they again had the lowest score of the five teams competing, but had nothing to save them, and were eliminated. Four teams remain, and there is no immunity to save anyone in the next two weeks, which will determine the Final Two.

Final Four: Post Mortem, The Jedi Masters, Double D and The Hip

Season High Points

In the weekly high points hunt, Kramerica became the third team this season to get a second high point week, joining Post Mortem and SIAP. In the season high points race, the top of the list (complete list at above link) looks like this:

  1. Post Mortem – 1046.08
  2. Double D – 977 (-69.08)
  3. Kramerica Industries – 940.81 (-105.27)
  4. Winning Beer Money – 926.69 (-119.39)

High Points Against

While interest rates are down, there is still interest being earned on the PFFL fees. That cash goes to the team with the most points scored against them. The above link will give you the complete list, but currently, the favorites are:

  1. Tappa Kegga Day – 1042.24
  2. The Hip – 945.26 (-96.98)
  3. Kramerica Industries – 932.59 (-109.65)

If the playoffs were to start today (2009, wk 10)

You can check out the “Playoffs” tab on the myFantasyLeague site at any time to see how the seeds in PFFL would work out if the season ended today. Also, the old PFFL site has a page for the Division Race and Wild Card Race but tiebreakers are only mildly applied there (i.e., they are wrong).

But, I thought I’d add a little detail here.

ashley-greene-french-01If the playoffs started today, these would be your first round matchups:

(8) Sharp as a Bowling Ball vs (1) Post Mortem
(7) Camel Toe vs (2) SIAP
(6) Kramerica Industries vs (3) CSPJ
(5) Hedfullalicker vs (4) Double D

Changes from last week:

  • Turd Ferguson went from 5-seed a week ago to out of the playoffs completely
  • Taking Turd’s place is SaaBB
  • Camel Toe, Kramerica and Hedfullalicker all benefited from Turd’s absence by moving up a seed each

Tiebreaker info:

  • Hed gets the advantage over Kramerica due to a head-to-head win
  • SaaBB leads Turd in the division tiebreak, and Camel Toe leads the Jedi Masters in their division tiebreaks
  • Camel is a seed ahead of SaaBB due to total points
  • SaaBB beat The Jedi Masters, earning them a playoff spot in that tiebreaker

If you’re looking for some historical perspective on playoff chances after 9 games, here’s what I can tell you:

  • Teams with 7+ wins after 9 weeks have never missed the playoffs. This is great news for Post Mortem.
  • Only once has a team with 6 wins missed the playoffs. Camel Toe accomplished that feat in 2006. The other 24 teams to sit with 6 wins after week 9 were much more fortunate, however. This is good news for SIAP and Double D.
  • 10 5-4 teams have missed the playoffs, 33 5-4 teams have made it. This is pretty good news for CSPJ, Hedfullalicker and Kramerica.
  • Only 15 of the 34 teams with 4 wins after 9 weeks have made the playoffs. That puts Camel, SaaBB, TJM and Turd’s chances at pretty close to 50%.
  • There have only been 21 teams with 3 wins after 9 games, so the sample size here is a little smaller. The news is not completely bleak for the 4 3-6 teams in this year’s PFFL season, since 4 of those previous 21 did in fact make the postseason.
  • Heck, 2 teams with only 2 wins after 9 weeks actually made the playoffs. No one is in that long-shot spot this year, however.

jessica-alba-xtra-05Week 9 Results

  • Hedfullalicker continued their recent dominance of CSPJ, beating the ‘Smokers for the 6th straight time in a series where CSPJ won the first three matchups. Both teams are now at 5-4, fully in control of their playoff hopes.
  • Following a defeat at the hands of the Jedis, Camel Toe has now lost three straight to fall to below .500 for the first time this season. TJM, meanwhile, gets themselves back into the playoff hunt. The Jedis now lead this all-time series 4-1 (with the only loss coming back in week 3)
  • Tappa Kegga Day improved to 3-6 with a win over The Hip. These two are pretty equal on the season. 3-6 overall, 1-4 in the division. Those division wins? Against each other. It’s going to be an uphill battle from here as far as the postseason is concerned. TKD now leads the all-time matchup, 9-5.
  • Kramerica again has a winning record, thanks to their win over Winning Beer Money, losers of three straight. KI leads this series 8-4, including a season sweep in their division matchups, and a four game run dating back to 2007.
  • SaaBB won their third straight game, dropping Turd Ferguson, to improve to 4-5. The win gives SaaBB a season sweep of Turd in the division, and was their fourth in a row over Fergie. Turd hasn’t beaten the ‘Bowling Balls since 2004. Ouch.
  • Double D continued their midseason win streak, now at 5 in a row, with a victory over SIAP. The win gives DD a 7-4 career lead over the ‘Pissers.
  • Post Mortem remained perfect in division play, and extended their win streak to 8 games, with a win over DDT, losers of three in a row. ‘Mortem has won four in a row over DDT and holds an all-time lead in this matchup, 6-3.

Record Watch

Note: All player scoring records cover the period of 2004 to the present only

  • Post Mortem’s 8-game win streak is tied for 7th longest all-time (and 5th longest in a single season). A win in week 10 would tie PM’s longest ever win streak of 9, which happened to in wks 1-9 of last season.
  • TKD’s win this week ended their losing streak at 6, tied for the fifth longest losing streak in one season.
  • SaaBB is only 26.91 points away from becoming the sixth team in PFFL history to compile 15,000 regular season points.
  • Post Mortem’s high point week gives them 20.5 all-time. They are the first franchise to 20, and lead SIAP, who has 19.
  • Tappa Kegga Day became the fifth team to win 50 division games.

Eliminated: Duany Duany Tanning
Won Immunity: Post Mortem

SIAP only scored 73.99 points this week, but used the power of immunity to save themselves from elimination. DDT was not quite as lucky, getting eliminated with an 83.8 point output, the first point total above 64 for an eliminated team this season. Post Mortem rode high points for the week to the final immunity necklace of the season and is ensured of a spot in the final four. The Jedi Masters, Double D, The Hip and SIAP will battle it out this week for the other three spots in the immunity-less final four weeks.

Teams left: SIAP, Post Mortem, Double D, The Hip, and The Jedi Masters.

PFFL Approved Music of the Week

The Ting Tings got noticed at SXSW in 2008, then got a bunch of attention due to an Apple commercial. I saw them live at Lollapalooza 2008 and they were really entertaining.

Jessica Alba — remember her? She’s a full-blown MILF now. Anyway, she’s in some movie called “The Killer Inside Me” which has this leaked trailer floating around. In it, there’s some spanking. Enjoy.

Thursday Night NFL Begins This Week (Deadline Reminders)

Posted on November 10, 2009 by Post Mortem

Just a friendly reminder.

christian-serratos-nude-peta-01With the NFL Thursday Night games starting up this week, and continuing through the end of the season, our weekly deadlines change a little bit:

  • The deadline for Blind Bid Waivers is now 10:00 pm on WEDNESDAY night, with first-come, first-serve waivers beginning at 10:30 pm on Wednesdays.
  • First-come, first-serve waivers will continue to be allowed up until Noon on Sunday. Any players involved in games occurring prior to that time will be locked at the start of their games. In other words, when the Bear-49er game kicks off this Thursday night, you will not be able to pick up or drop any players from those two teams until next week. Players from all other teams are fair game until noon Sunday, as usual.
  • This is also the PFFL Trade Deadline — any and all trades must be completed before kickoff on Thursday night (that’s 7:20 pm)

Note: All of these deadlines have been posted on the myFantasyLeague site all season, so hopefully this doesn’t shock anyone.

Finally, Christian Serratos, who is apparently in the Twilight films, would like you not to wear fur.

If the Playoffs Were to Start Today (2009, wk 9)

HADOO090250_MilitaryPoster_Horiz-2-366x550You can check out the “Playoffs” tab on the myFantasyLeague site at any time to see how the seeds in PFFL would work out if the season ended today. Also, the old PFFL site has a page for the Division Race and Wild Card Race but tiebreakers are only mildly applied there (i.e., they are wrong).

But, I thought I’d add a little detail here.

If the playoffs started today, these would be your first round matchups:

(8) Camel Toe vs (1) Post Mortem
(7) Kramerica Industries vs (2) SIAP
(6) Hedfullalicker vs (3) CSPJ
(5) Turd Ferguson vs (4) Double D

Seeds 5-8 are all 4-4 right now. Turd beat Kramerica, so is the West division representative in the first three-way tiebreak, along with Hed and Camel. Camel lost to both Turd and Hed. Turd and Hed have not played, so it goes to total points and Turd gets seed 5. For the 6 seed, Hed gets it cleanly with a sweep of both Camel Toe and Kramerica. Finally, the 7-8 seeding comes down to total points scored.

That would breakdown as 2 teams from the East, 3 from the Central and 3 from the West

If you’re looking for some historical perspective on playoff chances after 8 games, here’s what I can tell you:

  • Teams with 6+ wins after 8 weeks have never ever missed the playoffs — a perfect 24-for-24. This is great news for Post Mortem and SIAP.
  • 6 teams with 5-3 records have failed to make the postseason, out of 41 teams to hit that record after 8 weeks.
  • Predictably, it gets a little tighter after that, as 16 .500 teams after 8 weeks have missed the playoffs, out of 42 with that record.
  • Only 9 teams with 3 wins in their first 8 games have ever made the playoffs. 20 of 29 teams at 3-5 missed out on the postseason fun.
  • The Hip has successfully bucked the odds twice, qualifying for the playoffs in 1999 after a 2-6 start, and again in 2004 after beginning the season 1-7. No one else has ever gotten into the dance without winning at least 3 of their first 8.

Marisa Miller’s blog probably doesn’t talk about fantasy football history.
