In week 11, TJM defeated SIAP in their only regular season matchup of the year. In weeks 13 and 14, SIAP gained some revenge, outscoring TJM to win the Survivor championship. At the end of the regular season, TJM had played their way to the #1 seed, and SIAP was right behind at #2. Now, after two weeks of playoff action, we have the real thing, Super Bowl VIII.
The #1 seed is 1-2 in PFFL championships, with the only victory coming last season. Only one previous #2 seed has made it this far, also last year, and is 0-1.
The Jedi Masters appear in Super Bowl for first time
This is the first ever championship appearance for TJM, in their 7th season in the league, and fourth time making the playoffs. At 4-3 all-time, they own the eighth best postseason winning percentage in the league. TJM's division title this season was their third, the most for any team in the league.
SIAP makes league-best third Championship appearance
In the eight seasons of PFFL play, SIAP has made it to the title game three times. In 1998, SIAP lost to TKD. In their return appearance, in 2000, SIAP won their first league title, defeating Sharp as a Bowling Ball. No other team has appeared in the title game three times, and only one other team (The Hip) has laid claim to the trophy twice. With a 9-4 postseason record, SIAP already has more playoff wins than any other team, and has the fifth best playoff win percentage.
