Misfits of Science

The “Fair Is Enough” anti-tobacco ad is slightly humorous the first time you see it, then ridiculously annoying…

Misfits of Science

Thanks to Canned Hamm, the TV show Misfits of Science came up in ‘conversation‘ today. Remember this show? I loved it. The “Johnny B Good” character who played guitar and could shoot electricity was my favorite of the heroes. Plus, this was back when I had a crush on Courtney Cox.

So, I did a little research, in case your memory of the show is a little off.

  • the show aired from Oct 1985 to Feb 1986
  • you can see the titles of all 16 episodes here
  • more info at TV Tome
  • you can buy a VHS of the premiere episode at amazon.com
  • if I remember correctly, the theme song was really really bad

There’s a lot that’s really cool about having a 50″ HDTV. Colors are super bright, sports look incredible, the television set is about half as heavy as my old 35-incher, and it looks damn cool.

But, I’m watching a Tivo-ed episode of House today and I realized something. Doctor-type shows that feature blood and stuff like that are maybe a little too vivid for high-definition. I mean, seriously, I thought my TV was bleeding…

I just flipped to ESPN to catch the high-def version of SportsCenter and a threesome broke out (last 30 seconds of this week’s episode of Tilt — ESPN sure does love to put the PG-13 in their television series.
