Man, I did that musical baton thing, and I was saddened at how long it’s been since I’ve obtained any new music. Don’t get me wrong, I listen to new music all the time. The trick is, it’s all through XM radio, and I don’t bother to annotate it to pick it up for myself later.
I’ve been listening more to the blues station. This is actaully the reason why I bought XM, for Bluesville. There are plenty of great acts on Bluesville, most of them in that shady half-blues half-rock category of blues-rock. I love that kind of music. I couldn’t listen to it all the time, or it would lose that special feel.
But after a long day of work, driving for the few miles home in the car, it’s great.
I also listen to BPM a lot, which is their dance channel. There has been this tune, the only one I ever remember hearing twice on XM, by Paris Hilton. Is that really the Paris Hilton? Maybe so. In any case, I found it surprisingly catchy. As a matter of fact, I’m depressed to admit that I seem to enjoy some of these acts that I might have previously disregarded as fluff. For example, Ashlee Simpson’s “La La” tune amuses me.

Haha, I bet that is the Paris Hilton. I know she recorded some tunes, but I haven’t personally heard any of them. I find it a little funny that she’s actually listenable!
Personally, I’ve got Sirius as a satellite radio provider. I find myself spending most of my time on the Left of Center station listening to the newest college/indie/alternative rock music. I tend to use the memorize feature of my receiver unit to tag songs I like, then I review that list and download the stuff I like from iTunes.
P.S. I think XM has much cooler names for their stations than Sirius
