Waymorefunner Music Countdown – May 9, 2005

This week’s countdown is both lazy and impulsive in nature. Lazy because I decided on the top 10 in about 10 minutes. Impulsive because I turned over half of the songs on the list!

Click the play button here to listen to this week’s #1 (a song that was also #1 two weeks ago):

The five songs falling out of the countdown:

  • Ashes – this song has been in the countdown for weeks, it was just time for it to move on
  • Girl by Beck – just didn’t do it enough for me to stick around
  • Mike Doughty – same deal, just got bored with it quickly
  • Coldplay – the song is decent, but I think this is one of those cases where I was we all got OD’d on Coldplay over the last couple of years
  • White Russian Galaxy – another song that’s been on the countdown for a while

New this week:

  • Apply Some Pressure by Maximo Park – this song wavered between annoying and good the first time I heard it, now it’s completely growing on me
  • Why Do You Love Me by Garbage – I’ve always liked Garbage, and this new tune of theres is really catchy
  • Hwy 5 by John Doe & Neko Case – I’ve only recently discovered the amazingness that is Neko Case’s voice, any song she releases is gonna make this countdown
  • Lyla by Oasis – the band is of the old school variety, the song is new and great
  • Very Loud by Shout Out Louds – I’m really really loving this song right now, it’s catchy, fun, and all that

As usual, search around iTunes, Amazon or wherever, take a preview listen to these tracks and if you like ‘em, buy the tracks or the whole albums.

Ooh, can’t wait to get the new Garbage! Thanks for the reminder to pick it up. Nothing better to dance around the house to.
