Brooklyn Vegan: VIDEO: They Might Be Giants – ‘With the Dark’
I spent the first minute of this thinking that maybe the Giants had gone all mellow, then the squid showed up.

Feist, Andrew Bird, Bloc Party and Lily Allen highlight this week’s late night show music lineup

Lollapalooza released their schedule today
From the initial artist lineup, I was only a little disappointed that I was going to be out of the country during this year’s Lollapalooza. Now that the schedule is out, I’m actually bummed big time. A quick rundown of what I’m going to be personally missing:
Friday (Day 1):
11:45 – The Fratellis (helluva band to basically kick this thing off – nice work, MySpace stage)
then, I would wander, probably grab some lunch at one of the food vendors
1:30 – Ted Leo & the Pharmacists
2:30 – The Polyphonic Spree (appropriate timing if the sun is shining brightly for this upbeat group)
3:30 – probably wander all four concurrently playing stages to see what they all sound like
4:30 – M.I.A. (as I get all hip hoppy)
5:00 – Silversun Pickups (to get my rock back on)
5:30/6:00 – I’d probably stay for the full Silversun show to make sure I heard “Lazy Eye”, but then I’d go check out the last half of Blonde Redhead
6:30 – Satellite Party (let’s see how this new super group collective sounds live)
7:30 – LCD Soundsystem
8:30 – Daft Punk or Ben Harper (probably a little of both)

Saturday (Day 2)
11:45 – I’m From Barcelona (Lolla would be encouraging the early arrival this year)
12:30 – Fields
1:30 – Pete Yorn (Because I like him, but I’d be tempted to check out Tapes N Tapes too)
then I’d grab a late lunch
3:30 – Cold War Kids
4:30 – Roots (I’d probably pick their Southern rap rock over Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah)
5:30 – The Hold Steady (I really liked their album last year – Regina Spektor’s got the pipes to offer a worthy alternative at this time)
6:30 – Snow Patrol (although I’d probably want to rock to a little Yeah Yeah Yeahs too)
7:30 – Patti Smith or Spoon (both would be good)
8:30 – Interpol (although Muse is no slouch either as they co-headline)

Sunday (Day 3)
I skipped Sunday last year, but this year, I’d probably sleep in, eat a non-palooza lunch, and head down in the early afternoon
1:45 – Smoosh (nothing like two indie rockin’ underaged sisters)
2:15 – Amy Winehouse (even if just for the hair)
3:15 – Blue October (this is on reputation, not because I could name one of their songs)
4:15 – Kings of Leon (I’ve heard great things about their live shows)
5:00 – Peter Bjorn and John
5:15 – Yo La Tengo
6:15 – Modest Mouse
7:15 – TV on the Radio
8:00 – Pearl Jam (I don’t loooooove Pearl Jam, and they weren’t that great the last time I saw them, but this should be a pretty live crowd)

[sigh] That would be fun. But, I’ll be having a blast at the Galway Races that weekend, so it’ll be up to P4k ’07 and Lolla ’08 to entertain me!
