Sunday, January 15th – this is like…, adrenaline-rush day, or something:

Here’s where the Colts run to the Super Bowl really starts rolling, right? Ummm, I guess no one told the Steelers that they were supposed to let Indy win. This game had everything — momentum swings, a fumble by reliable Jerome Bettis as time was running down, recovered and run back by a guy who got stabbed in the knee on Saturday and rolled his other knee earlier in this one, all coming down to a missed field goal by one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history. Nothing’s gonna top this one!

Bears vs Panthers: this will be the boring playoff game of the weekend. Let’s see if someone can score a touch… ok, less than a minute gone by and it’s 7-0 Carolina. Turns out to be quite the thrilling game. Steve Smith just might be the best receiver in the entire NFL, and Rex Grossman looked decent in rallying the Bears, but showed his youth by throwing an INT on the possible tying drive. This is quite the day of NFL playoff action. I’m pretty sure all of the NFL “Experts” are like a combined 14-1,764 in picks this weekend. That’s fun.

Jack Bauer’s back. In the first 15 minutes, David Palmer and Michelle are killed, and Tony is injured (which happens like every year!). Ok, you’ve got my attention! By the start of the second hour, the US government is pursuing previously-thought-dead Jack Bauer in the assasination of a former president. If anything even 1% of this crazy actually happens, I’m pretty happy I don’t work for the government. No president would ever be as bullheaded and focused on his self-interests as President Logan, would they?

It is now officially only 100 days until the first game of the 2005 NFL season. Among other things, I think it’s officially OK to discuss fantasy football regularly. It’s also time for me to start trying to find a draft date for PFFL — you’d think it would be too early, but in the past couple of years, the chances of finding a single Friday or Saturday in late August when every team was available has become increasingly difficult.

I’ve also updated the music countdown (I updated it last week too, but didn’t write anything about it). We’ve got a new #1: Hwy 5 by John Doe & Neko Case. You can listen to it by clicking the play button below:

The countdown this week also features a few new songs:

Maureen by Fountains of Wayne – from their upcoming two-disc album, continuing a string of songs from them that include a girl’s name, just as catchy as “Stacy’s Mom”

Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) by Arcade Fire – Arcade Fire is one of the better bands to debut this year. This melodic tune is a good one. I’m looking forward to seeing them at Lollapalooza later this summer.

Get Well Soon by Reggie & the Full Effect – this song joins Green Day in representing the punk rock genre on the countdown

See this week’s countdown here.

In other news, the Memorial Day weekend is coming to a close. I had a great time at the 4th annual Erin/Lisa Memorial Day bash yesterday, and you can view my photos here.

Also, there are new photos from a Brewer Outing last Monday and sometime this week, I’ll upload a ton of pics from our Kiwanis clubs Winners Wear Helmets day last Thursday.
