Pitchfork: Pitchfork Music Festival 2007 - Friday
Pitchfork: Pitchfork Music Festival 2007 - Saturday
Pitchfork: Pitchfork Music Festival 2007 - Sunday
Check out Pitchfork’s coverage of their own music festival in convenient bite-sized daily recaps. There are tons of photos here, especially of the madness that was Of Montreal’s Sunday evening set.

Gorilla vs Bear: Pitchfork Music Festival
None of their favorites are my favorites, but their recap of the overall festival experience is right on.

Brooklynvegan: Rilo Kiley announces some 2007 tour dates
No Milwaukee yet, but there are some gaps in the schedule, so let’s wait and see…

Pitchfork: Of Montreal announce Fall tour
They were thoroughly entertaining during their hour-long set at P4k and they’ve got a nice tour coming up, including a stop in Milwaukee (at the Pabst) on October 4th.

Product Shop NYC: Bonnaroo - Update #1: Sold Out, Thursday Reviews
Some news from the kickoff of the Bonnaroo festival. The highlight of this article for me yesterday was the link to the AT&T Blueroom live webcast from the fest. I think I had that on for about 6 or 7 hours yesterday while engaged in various projects around home. The webcast continues through the weekend.

gorilla vs bear: new marissa nadler: “mistress”
This demo version of a new Marissa Nadler (who I only heard of via this blog post) tune is pretty solid.

Brooklyn Vegan: stream SPOON’s ‘Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga’
Link to a stream of Spoon’s new album and upcoming tour dates.

Brooklyn Vegan: A Sunny Day in Glasgow - 2007 Tour Dates
The comparison to Asobi Seksu is pretty accurate. The downloadable “Best Summer Ever” tune is not your traditional pop summer song for sure.

costello_music_cov278.jpg Brooklyn Vegan: The Fratellis and Peter Bjorn & John to Roseland ++ 2007 Tour Dates
The Fratellis are playing the Pabst theatre in Milwaukee on Monday, July 30th for the ridiculously low price of $10 per ticket.
Pabst Theatre link (tickets go on sale at the Pabst on June 22)
The Pabst site says “no pre-sale”, but that’s not really true — you can pre-order tickets on the Fratellis’ website here (of course, with fees, this goes up to $14 per ticket, plus $2 for mail — still a great deal)

My Old Kentucky Blog: The Sheds: You’ve Got a Light
Three songs are available to download from this post, plus a link to their whole album on the band’s official website.

YouTube: Keren Ann - Lay Your Head Down
The video for Keren Ann’s beautiful new tune.

Brooklyn Vegan: A few more for the weekend
Two links to songs from Liars and the Shout Out Louds (who I really liked a year-ish ago when “Very Loud” was getting some routine indie rock airplay)

Music Links: Iron & Wine, Polyphonic Spree and Paste Blogs

Posted by Paul on 13th June 2007

My Old Kentucky Blog: New Iron & Wine: Boy With a Coin
The first track from the new Iron & Wine album due out this fall

gorilla vs bear: Raise Your Ears and Hold Onto Your Heart
Apparently they make trailers for documentaries that are included in special edition CDs now. This one is for the “making of” doc to be included in the Polyphonic Spree’s new album (out next week!)

Paste logo Yesterday was the first time I discovered that there were blogs associated with the Paste Magazine site! Some highlights in the articles I’ve seen thus far:
Andy Whitman’s Best Albums of the first 4.9 months of 2007
Andy Whitman: In search of the perfect playlist
Andy Whitman (one last time): 5-Star Albums of the New Millenium
Video Blog: Ryan Adams’ “Goodnight Rose”

…and in non-music news: Jeremy Happel was the first to blog about Justin Verlander’s no-hitter last night

Music Links - Monday, 6/11/07

A bunch of music links from this fine Monday morning:

new-porn-dewall-2.jpg Pitchfork: New Pornographers Trick Out LP, Announce Fall Tour
Ok, so the “executive box set” is only $5 more? Count me in. These guys are the main reason I’m psyched about the p4k festival!

// PRODUCT SHOP NYC: Bumbershoot - The Shins, Wu-Tang, Kings of Leon, Etc
This Seattle-based music festival has a decent lineup for a $75 three-day outing.

My Old Kentucky Blog: Yeasayer : Be careful of my hollow bones.
Yeasayer has been getting all kinds of blog love

gorilla vs. bear: alright!: new M.I.A. video: “Boyz”
I don’t know why exactly, since I’m not a huge dance or rap music fan, but I like some of M.I.A.’s stuff

brooklynvegan: BFD 2007, BLOC PARTY, MP3’s, pics, tour dates
A bunch of Bloc Party MP3 links, plus tour dates (which will be most applicable if you live in Europe)

brooklynvegan: SPOON add more shows (CMJ) — presale, Tour Dates, MP3s
Spoon will be at Lollapalooza (me, I’ll be in Ireland)

Music Links - 6/5/07 morning

Posted by Paul on 5th June 2007

A few links I would never have discovered without Sirius Left of Center’s Blog Radio:

Brooklyn Vegan - St Vincent 2007 Tour Dates

Brooklyn Vegan has some St Vincent links. I just listened to all four songs on her mySpace page and the one on the Brooklyn Vegan site - Great, mellow stuff. I like her classification as a “multi-instrumentalist.” The “Now Now” song is a keeper. Her album Marry Me drops on July 10.

gorilla vs bear: The Polyphonic Spree: “Running Away” video

gorilla vs bear has the new Polyphonic Spree video for “Running Away.” This is a great song and the video is pretty fun.
> Polyphonic Spree will be at The Rave in Milwaukee on July 9th (link).

An Aquarium Drunkard - Loudon Wainwright III :: Soundtracking

An Aquarium Drunkard has some info on Wainwright’s contributions to the soundtrack of the new Knocked Up flick (which we’re going to see tonight).
