Walk A Mile In Her Shoes
Posted by Paul on 8th May 2007
This past Sunday (May 6th), I had the opportunity to participate in a local event titled, “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes.” This was the first time this event was conducted in Milwaukee, but was modeled after similar walks nationwide.
The march “invited members of the community to walk a mile in women’s shoes to raise awareness and funds for programs that help those affected by rape, sexual assault and gender violence.”
It was both painful and a lot of fun to walk the mile in a pair of heels (I’m told by some of my female co-workers that they are “wedges”). I had only decided to participate in the event last Thursday, but in a day and a half of fundraising, I was able to raise $279 — most based on a promise that my co-workers had to pledge to see the photos.
For those of you among the 5 or 6 visitors to this blog though, I’ll let you view the photos for free.
