Pitchfork: Pitchfork Music Festival 2007 - Friday
Pitchfork: Pitchfork Music Festival 2007 - Saturday
Pitchfork: Pitchfork Music Festival 2007 - Sunday
Check out Pitchfork’s coverage of their own music festival in convenient bite-sized daily recaps. There are tons of photos here, especially of the madness that was Of Montreal’s Sunday evening set.
Gorilla vs Bear: Pitchfork Music Festival
None of their favorites are my favorites, but their recap of the overall festival experience is right on.
Brooklynvegan: Rilo Kiley announces some 2007 tour dates
No Milwaukee yet, but there are some gaps in the schedule, so let’s wait and see…
Pitchfork: Of Montreal announce Fall tour
They were thoroughly entertaining during their hour-long set at P4k and they’ve got a nice tour coming up, including a stop in Milwaukee (at the Pabst) on October 4th.

Brooklyn Vegan: fire marshall shuts down DAN DEACON & GIRL TALK @ the 2007 Pitchfork Music Festival
The Pitchfork Music Festival was this weekend in Chicago’s Union Park. We were there. It was fun. My brief review:
- The weather was awesome — absolutely zero complaints
- The non-music components of P4K are VERY well done - water (and Fuze!) were only $1 a bottle, and that was for the mega 25 oz bottle of H2O. Beers were $4, and it wasn’t your typical watered down Light beer either, it was one of three varieties of Goose Island. Giveaways were plentiful, the merchandise tents actually had merchandise that you know, you might actually buy. (If you like to collect vinyl versions of today’s best Indie Rock, you could probably find it here.
- The people were friendly
- There were some great performances - New Pornographers, Of Montreal, and Cat Power (even though she kept apologizing) were the most memorable
- Union Park is super easy to get to and from
We were on the other side of a fence for the start of the Dan Deacon show, and as the link above explains, it was a little crowded (we left when we couldn’t see and the crowd started to get annoying).
The only downside of the entire fest experience? The two d-bags who forced their way into the crowd and acted like idiots during the New Porno show. I hope their hangovers were massive, causing them to get fired from their jobs today…
Pitchfork: Overlooked Records of 2007
Looking for some less-hyped music than say, Feist, The National, St Vincent, etc? Well, look here!
The New Pornographers are coming to Milwaukee, with the FULL band (including Neko and Dan!!!) — I couldn’t be more excited!
- Tickets go on sale this Friday

brooklynvegan: Largehearted Boy’s Interesting CD Releases this Week
- I’m personally most excited about St. Vincent this week. I’ll also be checking out Interpol’s new stuff. And since Spoon is available on eMusic (like St Vincent), I’m downloading that too.
brooklynvegan: VIDEO: The Besnard Lakes - ‘Disaster’ (w/ keira knightley)
- The video isn’t really by The Besnard Lakes, and it has a bit of a “I like Keira Knightley a little too much” fanboy feel to it, but the song is nice and haunting, ain’t it?
